How to redeem a Nintendo eShop code

On a Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, open Nintendo eShop, select Redeem Code on the left, enter the 16-character code and select Confirm. The download then starts. You can also redeem at ec.nintendo.com/redeem in a browser, and codes for eShop credit and Nintendo Switch Online work the same way.

On Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch

  1. Connect the console to the internet.
  2. Select Nintendo eShop on the HOME Menu.
  3. Select the account you want to use.
  4. Select Redeem Code on the left side of the screen.
  5. Enter the 16-character download code.
  6. Select Confirm. The download starts.

Codes for Nintendo eShop credit and Nintendo Switch Online are redeemed the same way.

In your browser

  1. Go to ec.nintendo.com/redeem.
  2. Select Sign in and sign in to your Nintendo Account.
  3. Enter the 16-character code and select Next.
  4. Enter your password again, then select Redeem. Nintendo sends you a confirmation email.

This only works if your Nintendo Account has opened Nintendo eShop on a Switch or Switch 2 at least once.

If the code is not accepted

A download code has 16 characters and no hyphens. The letters O, I and Z are not used. Don't enter the control number: it has hyphens, for example XXXX-A00000-000000.

A Nintendo Switch 2 download code can't be redeemed on the original Nintendo Switch.

If the code is already used

Check your purchase history or your virtual game cards. If the game is there, download it again from there. If not, contact the shop you bought the code from, then the publisher.

If the code is from another region

The code has to come from the same country or region your Nintendo Account is set to. A European code, for example, won't work on a North American account.

On Keyfinder, keys that activate in Germany and the rest of the EU, marked Global or Europe, are listed first.
